Last night's meeting was lovely. I always love to see so many different perspectives on the same book. It was very interesting to listen to so many different points of view. The Help was a book that it seemed everyone enjoyed. If you missed this one, you should read it. It brought up a lot of varying emotions in people, and forced us to take a really deep look at our own attitudes and motivations.
Mel was gracious enough to both host and lead the discussion. The treats were provided by Echo, Dena, Jess, and Michelle. Anything you would like to share as far as recipes go, please post them here as comments.
Next month we will be reading The Pact by Jodie Piccoult. We will be meeting at Dena's house and Stef will be leading the discussion. Treats will be provided by Sharla, Janette and Mel.
Thank you again to all who helped make last night a success.

Oriental Chicken Salad
2-3 varieties of lettuce (romaine, red leaf, spinach, etc)
3 chicken breasts cooked and diced
4 oz silvered almonds toasted oat 300 degrees on a cookies sheet for a few minutes
Wonton wrappers cut into strips and deep fried until golden and crisp
1-2 cans mandarin oranges
(to be continued)
dressing
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 1/4 cups seasoned rice vinegar
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp pepper
3/4 cup sugar
12 green onions (cut a little off the top, but leave most of the green--cut into thirds)
Blend all of the above in a blender until smooth. The dressing may be made a day or two in advance. It keeps well in the refrigerator. assemble and dress the salad just before serving for best results.
